Chapter: Connect GitHub

Integrations

Connect GitHub

Commits, pull requests, check runs and deployments of your repositories appear in the projects.

Where to connect

In VentionDesk under Workspace › Sources › “Add source”, category Code, then GitHub. Only the owner may connect, edit and remove.

Step by step

  1. Click “Connect with GitHub”. GitHub asks which account or organisation the VentionDesk app should be installed for.
  2. Choose “Only select repositories” and tick your projects’ repositories. The app reads commits, pull requests, check runs and deployments; the only thing it can write is labels.
  3. After “Install”, GitHub brings you back here. VentionDesk uses your GitHub sign-in to check that the installation really belongs to you.
  4. Then enter the repository as owner/name in the project under “Edit”. The nightly sync fetches the history; new events arrive immediately.

What the dialog asks for

No token: GitHub is connected by installing the VentionDesk app.

VentionDesk stores secret entries encrypted and never shows them again. They are only saved once the provider confirms the access; if you edit a connection and leave a secret field empty, the previous value is kept.
