Connect Rollbar
Active items of your Rollbar projects appear in the projects, new ones immediately.
Where to connect
In VentionDesk under Workspace › Sources › “Add source”, category Errors, then Rollbar. Only the owner may connect, edit and remove.
Step by step
- In Rollbar, open Account Settings › “Account Access Tokens” and create a token with **only** the scope “read”. The account token does not need “write”.
- VentionDesk uses it to read the projects and, for each assigned project, its read token (only for the sync, never stored). So create a token with scope “read” in each project under Settings › “Project Access Tokens” if there is none.
- For the “Resolved” button, the project additionally needs a project access token with scope “write” — the account token stays at “read”. VentionDesk fetches it only for this one call, uses it to first mark the item as resolved in Rollbar and only afterwards on its side. Without this permission, VentionDesk only reads: “Resolved” then leaves the error open and tells you which permission is missing.
- Enter the token and the account slug here; VentionDesk checks it by querying the projects.
- After saving, VentionDesk shows a webhook address with a secret in it under “Workspace” › “Sources” › Rollbar. Enter it in the project under Settings › Notifications › “Webhook” and enable “New Item”, “Reactivated Item”, “Resolved Item” and “10^nth Occurrence”.
- VentionDesk fetches the active items of the assigned projects every ten minutes. Then, on the project page under “Analytics” › “Assign error source”, assign each project to its project at the provider.
- For each error, VentionDesk only takes the identifier, a shortened title (email and IP addresses in it are masked), level, status, number of events and affected users, first and last occurrence and the link to the provider. Stack traces, events, user data, IP addresses and requests stay with the provider and are not stored from webhooks either.
What the dialog asks for
| Field | Entry | Where from |
|---|---|---|
| Account access token | Required | secret | Rollbar › Account Settings › “Account Access Tokens” › “Create new access token” with only the scope “read”. |
| Account slug | optional | For the links to the error: the part after app.rollbar.com/a/ in your account’s address. Empty: no links. |
| Create tasks automatically | optional | “an” (default, on) or “aus” (off). On: an error that reaches the threshold or has the level “fatal” is created once as a task for Claude. |
| Threshold (events) | optional | The task is created from this many events. Leave empty for 10. |
VentionDesk stores secret entries encrypted and never shows them again. They are only saved once the provider confirms the access; if you edit a connection and leave a secret field empty, the previous value is kept.
