Connect Bugsnag
Open errors of your Bugsnag projects appear in the projects, new ones immediately.
Where to connect
In VentionDesk under Workspace › Sources › “Add source”, category Errors, then Bugsnag. Only the owner may connect, edit and remove.
Step by step
- Bugsnag tokens have no scopes: a token sees everything its account sees. So create a separate account “VentionDesk” as a collaborator that only sees your customers’ projects and has no administrator rights.
- Sign in with this account and create a token under Settings › My account › “Personal auth tokens”. As a collaborator, VentionDesk only reads with it (Data Access API).
- For the “Resolved” button, the account must be Organization Administrator or Project Owner of the project in Bugsnag — only then does Bugsnag accept the “fix” operation. VentionDesk then first marks the error as resolved in Bugsnag and only afterwards on its side. Without this permission, VentionDesk only reads: “Resolved” then leaves the error open and tells you which permission is missing.
- Enter the token here; VentionDesk checks it by querying the projects.
- After saving, VentionDesk shows a webhook address with a secret in it under “Workspace” › “Sources” › Bugsnag. Enter it in the project under Project settings › “Integrations and email” › “Webhook” and choose “New errors”, “Frequently occurring errors” and “Reopened errors”.
- VentionDesk fetches the open errors of the assigned projects every 15 minutes — less often than with Sentry, because Bugsnag tightly limits requests per account. Then, on the project page under “Analytics” › “Assign error source”, assign each project to its project at the provider.
- For each error, VentionDesk only takes the identifier, a shortened title (email and IP addresses in it are masked), level, status, number of events and affected users, first and last occurrence and the link to the provider. Stack traces, events, user data, IP addresses and requests stay with the provider and are not stored from webhooks either.
What the dialog asks for
| Field | Entry | Where from |
|---|---|---|
| Personal auth token | Required | secret | Bugsnag › Settings › My account › “Personal auth tokens” › “Generate new token”. |
| Organisation ID | optional | Only needed if your account belongs to several organisations (24 characters, 0–9 and a–f). Empty: the account’s first organisation. |
| Create tasks automatically | optional | “an” (default, on) or “aus” (off). On: an error that reaches the threshold or has the level “fatal” is created once as a task for Claude. |
| Threshold (events) | optional | The task is created from this many events. Leave empty for 10. |
VentionDesk stores secret entries encrypted and never shows them again. They are only saved once the provider confirms the access; if you edit a connection and leave a secret field empty, the previous value is kept.
