Chapter: Connect Resend

Connect Resend

This workspace’s emails go out via your Resend account and your sender address.

Where to connect

In VentionDesk under Workspace › Sources › “Add source”, category Mail, then Resend. Only the owner may connect, edit and remove.

Step by step

  1. Open resend.com › Domains › “Add Domain” and enter the domain of your sender address (or a subdomain such as send.your-domain.com). Choose “Ireland (eu-west-1)” as the region so that your emails go out from the EU.
  2. Set the DNS records shown: DKIM (TXT on resend._domainkey) and SPF (MX and TXT on send). After “Verify DNS Records”, the domain must show as “Verified” — otherwise VentionDesk rejects it when saving.
  3. Under API Keys › “Create API Key”, create a key with “Full access”. The key is only shown once. This is your own Resend account — separate from the one VentionDesk sends through without a connection.
  4. Enter the key and sender address. The address must be exactly on the verified domain. When saving, VentionDesk reads your domains once (GET /domains) and checks that this domain is verified; no email is sent in the process.
  5. Your customers’ replies still go to your VentionDesk mailbox (Reply-To) and land in the ticket. Bounces and complaints are only visible in your account with the provider — VentionDesk learns nothing about them. If sending fails, the reason is shown on this connection and the email counts as not sent; VentionDesk never silently falls back to another sender.

What the dialog asks for

FieldEntryWhere from
API keyRequired | secretResend › API Keys › “Create API Key” with the permission “Full access” — a key with “Sending access” may not read the domains, and that is exactly what VentionDesk checks when saving. It starts with re_.
Sender addressRequiredThe address your emails come from, e.g. invoice@your-domain.com — on the domain you verified with the provider. VentionDesk takes the name in front of it from “Settings › Email sender”.

VentionDesk stores secret entries encrypted and never shows them again. They are only saved once the provider confirms the access; if you edit a connection and leave a secret field empty, the previous value is kept.
