Chapter: Connect Railway

Connect Railway

The deployments of your Railway services appear in the assigned projects.

Where to connect

In VentionDesk under Workspace › Sources › “Add source”, category Hosting, then Railway. Only the owner may connect, edit and remove.

Step by step

  1. Open railway.com › Account Settings › Tokens and create a token. Under “Workspace”, choose either no workspace (account token, sees all your projects) or the workspace of your customer projects.
  2. A project token is not enough: it only sees one environment of one project, and VentionDesk has to list the services.
  3. If you chose a workspace token, enter the workspace ID (Workspace › Settings). For an account token, leave the field empty.
  4. On the free plan, Railway only allows 100 requests per hour; VentionDesk therefore only checks every fifteen minutes, one request per assigned service. Assignment happens on the project page under “Deploy” › “Assign hosting”.

What the dialog asks for

FieldEntryWhere from
API tokenRequired | secretRailway › Account Settings › Tokens. An account token (without a workspace) sees all your projects.
Workspace IDoptionalOnly for a workspace token: Workspace › Settings, the identifier from the address. Leave empty for an account token.

VentionDesk stores secret entries encrypted and never shows them again. They are only saved once the provider confirms the access; if you edit a connection and leave a secret field empty, the previous value is kept.
